On Friday, August 27th, MICA will be presented with a 2021 Salt Lake City Mayor's Artist Award. We are thrilled by this news. The award honors MICA's long history of art, community building, and activism. We accept it in the name of our founders, Ruby Chacón and Terry Hurst, as well as the many board members, artists, and curators who have moved our mission forward.

Since 1992, the Utah Arts Festival in conjunction with the Salt Lake City Arts Council and the Salt Lake City Mayor's Office have recognized contributions to the Salt Lake community through the Mayor's Artist Awards. Mayor’s Artist Awards are given to artists and arts organizations who have done extensive work to benefit the Salt Lake City community and other communities beyond our own, who have deeply enriched the cultural landscape of our City and the lives of our citizens.

The Mayor’s Artist Awards will be presented on Friday, August 27, at 6pm on the Festival Stage. Join us!
