EuroTrash by Ruben Popoca

"For the past year I've dedicated my energies into seeking to understand the passionate-misunderstood young men and women of the Euro Trash culture. Euro Trash is a dichotomy of words—in recording the Euro Trash lifestyle I focused on elegant lighting techniques in order to accentuate key feature from my subjects, in doing so I visually brought out the word EURO. To visually express the word TRASH I focused on key post-production techniques that would contrast my key lighting methods, in doing so I created and gave a gritty feel to the images. Euro Trash is a devotion of a real passion for photography—I strive to visually communicate lifestyles that may be obscured to some members of our society. The Euro Trash culture is that obscured lifestyle, I believe in first seeking to understand then rather to first wanting to be understood—my hope through this exhibit is to create a window, a window of understanding not just for a photograph or a photographer but rather a people." - Ruben Popoca
